L'anno della...vittoria

Avevamo sistemato il carrello a vetri, dietro una delle porte ad evitare “question’” con la coniuge, che, anzi, si era detta a modo suo darmi una mano, un piede...E ne è venuto fuori il solito ordine, sì, ma a capa di ‘mbrella. Senonché l’ordine stamani è stato invertito non foss’altro che poco funzionale, e allora “chella ca sta a vasc’ sagl’ ‘ncoppa” e viceversa. Si le scatole dell'archivio stampe digitale, sotto nun va ‘bbuon’. Questione che Manunzio oltre a sistemare nuovi fogli di carta più che pregiata (vien fuori dall’ottima Pixma Pro 200 che spara “acqua colorata” dicono certi prufessur’ e poco durano, e siccome Manunzio non ha voglia né di mandarli a f...men che mai argomentare della loro fessaggine, che dire?) le stesse fan come caleidoscopio di rimandi.
Da una scatola, via, un bigliettino scritto durante La Peste formato Covid-19, sublime invenzione Bill Gates-Oms-BighPharma-Fauci-Speranza ministro Sanità-Conte in camicia nera tipico del Regime Ventennale. Sistema che, manco a dire, ha fatto da Lab universale, fregando Cinesi (inventori del pipistrello-virus-mercato pesce Wuhan) e Fort Detrick l’americano con buona pace di Mentina Open. Tanto per capire il quadretto di sterminio planetario di quel primo comandamento della Georgia Granite Guide Stone: prima fatto saltare in aria, successivamente demolito. Oh che peccato ché erano le Nuove Tavole dei Comandamenti, sì satanici. E il primo, appunto, diceva “Mantiene l’equilibrio con la Natura a non più di cinquecento milioni di esseri” e aggiungiamo “cui una piccolissima parte i governati draconiani o lucertoloni stile Visitors televisivo Anni 80 scorsi” il resto? Mancia, si usava dire, schiavi o Goym o Gentili fate vobis, tipo a Gaza l’ottimo cecchino ebreo sparare al disarmato ragazzo adolescente palestinese, lodato dal pari ebreo ministro, che propone onorificenza manu militari.
Scatole, quindi e concludiamo, con un bigliettino ritrovato via Hahnemühle, molto cortese nello spedirmi due bottiglie di fissativo per canvas inkjet, ma che ostinatamente si è usato per le normali stampe: un macello neanche vaporizzato, insufflato...sempre macello è da buttare via alcune stampe. E meno male che lo spray c’è! A volte percorrere strade nuove non è detto che i frutti (risultati?) buoni tali siano.

Nb. Nel novero mancano gli “accademici “ alla Burioni (cos’è una burla?) tronista a Che tempo che fa, Capua (zanzarologa), Viola e Crisanti il vampiro alla Crozza, Galli colpito da se stesso, Bassetti Preglisco e Ranieri Guerra, uscito di scena e non più a radar della Oms in appalto Bill & Melinda Gates, che nel frattempo ha divorziato dal sodale compare

A latere ma non troppo, le scatole, più d’una a dir vero, restituiscono immagini su diverse carte dall’Amatruda, cartiera d’Amalfi l’antica repubblica marinara, che è un piacere tattile più di quello, ecco, di donna (?!). E Rosaspina Fabriano non meno (stavo per scrivere arrapante, pensa un po’ te) di quella. Anzi su quest’ultima si è stampato un cielo virato di caldo (più o meno Magenta) sovrastante dei silos industriali, qui a poche centinaia di metri dal Manunzio. Ebbene quel velo tipico, contrasto insito della carta non trattata con bario etc, più vado avanti, più guardo, è squisitamente funzionale alla narrazione della personale visone d'immagine.

Pss. Revisione lunghetta causa MiaoMiao (si chiama Bottino) che è venuto a passeggiare su la tastiera: dite? No MiaoMiao è l’unico a fare ciò che gli pare. E vedete la pazienza di Manunzio? Più di Giobbe biblico, più…

Da l'originale 1920 x 2560 pixel Olympus Wz 5060 da taglio micidiale salvato in più che buono Jpg. Poi in Pshop Elemnts desaturata, riaggiustata e virata con un vecchio plug-in; l'immagine ottenuta salvata in sRGB Tiff. importata in Print & Layout Canon, altri aggiusti sul viraggio e livelli, complice il “giallo” antico del supporto Canson Heritage da 300 gr. finalmente una serie di stampe come comanda Iddio. Stessa trafila per godibilissimi quasi A3+ d'una stellare Rosaspina Fabriano, e anche una prova su più “modesta” Fabriano4 ha restituito un piacevole e degno di nota risultato. Certo poi basta dire all'incauto osservatore che le stampe sono impresse su Hahnemühle o Canson o l'americanata Moab e la presa per il c...è assicurata, ché si vive di luoghi comuni del Pensiero Unico che li ha generati (partoriti?)



Io, la stampante e lo scuro
I file sono come “folie” mo' ce stann' e mo' vanno via. Stamani ho buttato, con certa stizza, delle stampe d'un verde manco i cani. E allora la fidata Canon Pixma Pro 200 che spara “acqua” colorata dicono gli influencer che pontificano su le sorti magnifiche e progressive...del pigmento eterno. E in universo che manco l'aria sotto vetro viene da ridere quanto a longevità.
Sia come sia già nel mettere i fogli in macchina, bei fogli Canson Heritage da leccarsi i baffi solo a tastarne la superficie. E i parametri? No, stavolta facciamo con l'occhiometro e contro c...arta dopo dieci anni di stampe inkjet, eh. Perfetto, il primo e il secondo foglio tutto nel driver Layout di Canon: non perdete tempo con i Pshop vari, e pure da Pshop Elements provato è un sonoro: ni.
Ritornati al driver Canon la musica è cambiata e finalmente stampe molto molto intricante su substrato “antico” d'antan, com'erano certe carte da stampa analogica Ferrania Anni Sessanta del passato secolo, godibile cose.
E potevamo esimerci: da cosa? Due residui fogli A3 + Rosaspina Fabriano cui stampa teniamo per i nostri occhi, oltretutto non si può manco azzardare mostrare video se non da piangere per le cazzate di monitor iper-ultra profilati-questo e quello (non a caso sonde e sondine li abbiamo buttati da tempo nel cassonetto, differenziata si capisce) e manco l'Artificio Mentale (serve ad eliminare posti di lavoro con prospettiva che i robot poi “venderanno” ad un altro simile) è ipotizzabile oggi e domani: solo visone a stampa sott'occhi. Stampate ché di diman non v'è certezza!


Ps. Non ce po' fregà de meno di “esatta-esatta” corrispondenza monitor-stampa (su cui con lentino certi imbecilli analogici, via Youtube, pretendono chissà cosa al microscopio!) da cui il giusto posto che reclama la stampante e sua “lingua”. Vi è stato un tempo che portammo al laboratorio qui vicino, diapositive da riversare il Cibachrome (oggi emulato molto bene, si è sperimentato, da Ilford che combinazione per chi sa di fotografia). Lo stampatore ne ricavò trentaperquarata con tonalità calda, molto ma molto meglio delle “fredde” diapositive. E da quel fatto: diamo a Cesare ciò che...

Rainbow



Let's abandon for now the black and white test, we'll come back to it later, because we are dealing with a color world, thanks to the Canon Pixma Pro 200, which, according to the tests (I tested it for over five months between prints and reprints Pshop to better understand how it is possible to use the so-called "unconventional" papers) is full of nuances and ok. A note: the target, like I wrote testing properly b&w on all papers test, is the same procedure with the color test: in fact I put "auto" all settings in Professional Print & Layout, useful and well done Canon software, as also for those "dull of hearing": try it use it and then you will be surprised by the results. Remember that we are artisan photo-printers otherwise we would send files to the service, and that's it. Incidentally, back to the color of the Canon Pixma Pro 200, and then whatever paper you put in it the results will be remarkable. Can you do any size (max A3+) and thickness (max 350 gsm)? Sure, the only care is that each media paper reflects the ink dye in its own way, so you have to experiment with the appropriate rmix and notice everything, for example behind sample print, to go back and start another print again.

The Canon brand has always been pitted against Nikon, "nobless oblige" even if, in fact, it all came down to the Canon-Sony diarchy. Yet, if there were a referendum tomorrow, I would vote for the first one not doubt, because Sony is just an assemblage of gears and chips (it exists after having acquired the glorious Minolta brand, among I remember above all the Srt-101 Reflex) for those who have been practicing photography for a long time: a soulless system.
So Canon and its "ecosystem" for inkjet printing brilliant and remarkable leap in quality, as we have already written extensively. In fact, if you put the menus on "autopilot" Professional in Print & Layout(while I'm writing and I spent the morning of snow that comes and goes typical of the weather in March) and saw the two series of black and white (out of the Pixma Pro 200) same subject not even to say, the snow, an image taken of Olympus WZ 5060 or Point & Shoot camera, on paper "unconventional" you will be surprised by the results of all respect.

For us artisans, photographers and printers, paper plays a dominant role because it is through it that we make sense, or rather put into practice that concept of physics known as "wave collapse" when, that is to say, from the world of personal emotions and sensations, we have to put " down on paper", be it black and white or color to translate in vision for many, or spectator according Roland Barthes. Hi Artisans photo-printermaker where to start if not, for example, Fabriano and its albums (from latin word albo, white) already at used my home since the days of elementary school?
Fabriano paper, let's go and the n. 4 already in use years ago when I make the experiments in Print-Era inkjet and between profilers and calibrated monitor (then thrown in the trash see bellow link) like a trapeze artist, between gamma 1.8 Mac and 2.2 Windows colorimetric theories Relative Perceptual and ... black dot. A casino royal! At this days ten years have passed, I've just started printing on paper again, a quantum leap in inkjet technology and fairly easy operation. Today, softwares facilitate the final printing on papers with related ICC profiles, or a "translator" between what the monitor sees and the drops of CYMK on the final paper. Closed parenthesis, the Fabriano n. 4 and black and white printing on Canon Pixima Pro 200, and its free proprietary software "Professional Print & Layout" in code PP&L: obviously nothing prohibits, indeed, to print from Pshop, Lightroom and others software. However the software PP&L is a fantastic and discreet ecosystem, we will talk about it in a next thanks to exhaustive video find on Youtube.
Be that as it may, the print test is n.2 A4 Fabriano sheets with its 200 sgm (there's a trick to very end weighing it down more, gluing two sheets in one!) doesn't make you cry out for a miracle, sure, also because I used the "auto-pilot" within the Canon software, just to start from a point. Another mess? No, not at all, as everything beyond the data, let's say purely technical, is worth the personal eye and the taste and one's own vision of the world*, a far cry from the simple, sad and lonely binary code on the monitor, which cannot show the real range of the paper (this is true for every brand) Fabriano 4, its honest gray range** even if in color as we will see later, and here we give it as a premise: chapeau!
On the other hand, another Fabriano, the Rosaspina, which does not need any presentation as it is well known by the masters who use it for drawings and wet techniques, 220 sgm, with a velvety and pleasant touch, transmits an excellent vibration and a nice sound***. And if as happened by mistake to print from the back, you find yourself a surface let's say textured similar to canvas for artists!
And it must be said even if it puts fearful experimenters on the run: the Rosaspina Fabriano "drinks" and absorbs ink like a sponge (which all porous surfaces of other brands do) so that with the Canon Pixima 200 you have to find the mix, let's say, of "inking" in view of the fact that, lacking the layer of barium sulfate or other the surface, and this again applies to all papers produced by third parties, on the Rosaspina the inks tend to sink (spread) between the fibers. Translated: a patina that mixes everything and questionable contrast. And yet, never say never, because there is a way to curb all this and it has the wet mark 609, but we will talk about this "numerology" again.
That's all folks? None because on stage it is another Fabriano Artistico paper that makes the a big difference: here things get interesting, indeed in contradiction with what has just been said. Artistic in the natural white and extra version that we have tested. Artistico Extra White 300 gsm paper that does not seem to be made for "artists" by the wet brush in all its facets. First of all the tactile sensation, which is hardly found in the blasé papers for inkjet, that is pleasant smooth. But if you keep on feeling the paper, it is made of a completely different material: cotton fiber. Now, if the tactile sensation is a good start, the results are amazing, thanks to the fact that the treated surface prevents the dye inks from sinking like the Titanic into the fibers paper. And this translates into sharpness of the edges, contrast and anything else worthy of papers for inkjet: very fine.
The blacks, I'm talking about test black and white prints, here are deep and not as unsteady n. 4, as well as the tonal range as well: it's a pity that the monitor flattens everything and you can't see the difference. Artistico Fabriano it well bears the "underexposure" or the well-known exposure latitude of certain analogue materials aka silver halide. Not enough? In fact Innova in joint venture with Fabriano (we have written and had feedback about it) calls its "special" papers (rough watercolour surface) Artistico and they cost a fortune: à la page c'est vrai?
We have reached the end of the first part with the Fabriano Papers in black and white test, next products of other papers mill, and to follow the more than good results obtained for the color test images. Canon Pixma Pro 200


Hi artisans printer-maker an other step before printing. I was for many years customer of Canon, at the end of Sixties in last Century with a camera Canonet QL (quick load). After that I used with all the Canon cameras (not all purchased, but among friends canonist and acquaintances from) type F1, A1, Ae1 to Ftb up to the incredible Canon D20 and its lenses L ( Fluorite, the best choice). And from the knowledge of the Brand, the reputation its bubble jet printers the step to buy Pixma Pro 200 a good choice for me. Why? Simply because the digital printing I has been practiced it since ten years. In fact thanks at two astonish printers in those days: a Hp 9180 inks pigments and the incredible performance of Hp 1220 C (dye ink) of which there was also a PostScript version, both in A3 format. Hp the 1220 C only four "simple" aqueous colored inks: one tank for the black dye and the other containing all three colors CYM (not separately tank like today). Many years after was, in fact,
Canon itself that introduced the advertisement: "A day all printers will have separate tanks for each color".
However, since then, the prints that I keep under glass would be indistinguishable from the current pigment inks. I remember the printer Hp 1220 C prints deliberately manipulated in Pshop to make them look like watercolors, indistinguishable from the real ones whitouth fade colors. However stay tuned paisà

Making a Canon PRO-200 black white fine art print - papers for monochrome

Preamble part two


Before getting to final print, a note for remember that the monitor is de facto a ray Red Green Blue beam projector. Vice versa the print, as any printed sheet off-set or digital, is seen by reflection. And in printing, the paper support, base color and whether if glossy or satin (hot pressed) play a fundamental role. That is to say that reflection (human eye) therefore the sensation that is obtained it is indebted to support and ambient light (daylight or led illumination) that changes over the course of day. And here we come to fact connected to it, namely the luminous nature of the monitor made of pixels with their spatial coordinates etc. Vice versa the print is produced by tiny droplets of infintesimal ink (measurement picoliter is a trillionth, one millionth of a millionth, or 10 to the -12th power) ) which "mixes" upon contact with the support. A mess? No of course, but a different way to final target.

RGB, CMYK and printing

Sul tavolo “operativo” prove in solo formato A4. Siché partendo dal fondo, dove si intravvedono gli scatoloni con le “tacche” colore e riportante caratteristiche dell’immagine, rendering colorimetrico e quant’altro a ricordare la strada percorsa per eventuali repliche.
Sottostante e da sinistra le Moab americane, poi l’immancabile francese Canson, la altrettante valide Felix Scholler coated e non ce ne po’ fregà de meno. A seguire lo “standard” teutonico Hahnemühle FineArt.
Terza fila in basso l’inimitabile Rosaspina “intonsa” della Fabriano, ottima con i pigmenti inkjet sebbene un certo grado di “affondo” nella carta - scotto da pagare per le superfici non trattate apposta - con a latere, sempre Fabriano, le carte fabbricate per ricever gli inchiostri dalle stampanti digitali.
Ultime a destra prove del bianconero su Hahnemühle FineArt, impressionante della Hp Photosmart Pro B9180 - fuori commercio e sostituita da altro modello - dalle nuance perfettamente neutre, di un bianconero che nulla invidia alla classica analogica

Vabbene sarà il caldo o più ancora insonnia notturna dovuto a quello, ma uno da qualche parte deve pur parare per titoli…mussoliniani e poi visto l’odierno terraqueo. A noi, per l’appunto!
Sia come sia se nel post precedente si è ben detto della Cartiera Awagmi, qui una carrellata di carte che si è sperimentato per ottenere ciò che la (nostra) capoccia immagina sia quello più aderente al “vero”, e veicolare la poetica (minchia!) tramite “carta straccia” o la rag degli anglosassoni.
In definitiva il problema meglio non è solo (e soltanto) la carta di “straccetti” quanto e soprattutto cosa c’è veicolato dal supporto. Vabbene McLuhan “messaggio” ma mica poi ci si mette sul media/carta un topo morto o come quel tale artista (non fotografo) in tempi remoti, cacca d’arista. Pagato a peso d’oro. Ahi come è scivolata in “basso” la cosiddetta Arte (tout court?) dell’Occidente etc etc etc.
Questo a dire che un normale service ben difficilmente vi consentirà di sperimentare in tutta tranquillità le possibili variazioni, e di carta e di inchiostri, ergo: bisogna fare da sé se la stampa se vi annoverate tra gli “artisti” fotografi oltre l’immaginabile umano. Minchia e due!

Ps. Quasi dimenticavo della Epson, stampanti e carte cui è inutile dire circa la loro bontà. Non abbiamo eseguito alcun test su esse e anche perché il marchio (della Bestia 666) Digigraphie per le cose anzidette è in palese contraddizione
